Education Queensland and Industry Partnership (EQIP) is a unique not-for-profit initiative that was formed in 2009 to act as a central management body for the various vocational education training programs across the three State high schools in Gladstone. Prior to the establishment of this initiative, Education Queensland and industry were separately managing, administering and funding over 9 different industry-school partnerships delivering work-ready students in Gladstone.

“EQIP’s role in fostering collaboration between our local state schools and the community, business and industry is highly valued as it provides students who are work-ready with entry-level technical skills and valuable soft skills that ensure students can easily integrate into the workplace culture."
- Chuck Mason, General Manager Gladstone Operations, NRG
“With the LNG industry now an important part of the industrial landscape of Queensland, Gladstone is a growing centre for technical expertise. This can only be sustained by cooperatively working to grow technical talent in young people, and fortunately for the region, EQIP plays a major role that industry alone could not replicate.”
- Robert Gibb, Manager, Communities and Sustainable Development, ConocoPhillips Australia Business Unit East
“The authentic partnership between our local industry groups with Education Queensland, throughout state high school principals and leadership teams, continues to create opportunities for our students to engage in their personal journey towards success. When we reflect on the nature of this relationship between education and local industry, the genuine commitment made by the industry partners, the members of the EQIP board and the representatives of the state high schools ensure that our students receive the very best opportunities possible."
- Garry Goltz, Principal, Gladstone State High School
“Being part of the PREQIP program let me see industries first hand, learn how to make a resume and practice interview skills. My favourite experience was the self-defence class.”
- Xavier Yarrow, PREQIP 2018, TSHS
“One day I hope to have a career helping Indigenous and SSE kids in community programs. In the program I learnt some valuable life lessons and skills to put me in a better position for the work environment.”
- Saria Cakau-Corora, PREQIP 2018, GSHS
“I really loved every aspect of the PREQIP program. My career ambition is to be a Personal Trainer or Sports teacher and I learnt how to stand out when applying for jobs."
- Chevy Roberts, PREQIP 2018, TSSHS
“My favourite parts of the PREQIP Program were the BIECC Camp and visiting GLNG. I learnt teamwork, problem-solving and to start thinking about what I want to do in the future – I think I’d like to work in the Defence Force or Mining."
- Janus Adidi, PREQIP 2018, TSHS
"EQIP’s programs provides an important early introduction of us to students while they are still at school and considering their career options. There is a shortage of Automotive Technicians in Australia and we rely on this program to introduce this career to students in a structured and meaningful way."
- James Robertson, Bill Robertson Toyota
"Students who participate in the EQIP Authentic workplace learning programs are well-prepared through their learning experiences, industry visits and exposure and work experience to move into their intended career path after graduation. Feedback from students and families regarding the programs and the benefits students have gained from their participation has consistently been exceptional."
- Justin Harrisson, TSSHS
