PREQIP provides a platform for Year 10 indigenous students to develop valuable employability skills in authentic work environments and raise awareness of the potential career pathways in the region.
Students complete a range of theoretical and practical activities to develop employability skills such as leadership, communication, planning, teamwork, resilience, and problem solving. Through practical activities students develop confidence and capability.
Students participate in a 1 week orientation camp at Boyne Island Environmental & Education Centre followed by one day per week on a Friday at various locations in the Gladstone region. Students from Gladstone SHS, Toolooa SHS, and Tannum Sands SHS have the opportunity to undertake project and site experience in EQIP Gladstone’s Centres of Excellence:
- EQIP Business and IT Skills Centre
- EQIP Engineering Skills Centre
- EQIP Technical College Gladstone Region
- EQIP Process Plant Operations
Students also complete 5 units of a CIII Outdoor Recreation, First Aid, Industry White Card, NRG Site Induction and Fire Evacuation Training.
