The EQIP Technical College Gladstone Region (ETCGR) is a campus of Gladstone State High School offering students the opportunity to complete qualifications and gain authentic workplace experiences that enable secondary school students to begin a career while they are still at school. Pathway opportunities include Automotive Mechanical, Building Construction, Civil Construction, Hospitality, or Business Services.
Year 11 and 12 students undertake their schooling in a unique cycle of two weeks work with an employer and two weeks classroom based curriculum onsite at the College. This two weeks ‘on’ and two weeks ‘off’ format continues throughout their two years of schooling. Two week work placement rotations aligned to the chosen career pathway enhances the potential for a student to secure a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship and future employment opportunities.
All students study Certificate I and II Business, Certificate I and II Information Digital Media and Technology, Certificate II Active Volunteering, English Communication and Maths A. Completed competencies from a student’s school-based apprenticeship or traineeship contribute to the overall course. Successful completion of the course of study will enable a student to obtain a Queensland Certificate of Education and potentially roll over into a full-time apprenticeship or traineeship from his/her school based arrangement.
