EQIP Process Plant Operations is delivered in partnership with CQUniversity and Queensland Alumina Limited. Program sponsors are Australia Pacific LNG, Shell QGC and Santos GLNG.
Students are provided the opportunity to complete a certificate qualification while gaining practical skills and experience in an authentic workplace environment. The goal is to develop employability skills and raise awareness of the potential career pathways in the LNG industry.
Employment options may include roles as a process plant operator, chemical plant operator, trainee process technician or process technician.
Students commit 1 day per week to the program to complete a Certificate II Process Plant Operations, which includes working at heights and enter confined spaces tickets. This is an entry level qualification that provides students with skills and knowledge in the refining industry. Students complete structured training onsite at Queensland Alumina Limited to help them apply the theory from the certificate qualification into practical environment.
Career preparation and guidance workshops are included in the program for Year 11 and Year 12 students and this helps students to draw the link between practical experience and soft skill development such as communication, teamwork, problem solving and initiative.
EPMA is sponsored by ConocoPhillips Australia Pacific LNG, QGC, and Santos GLNG.
